Aura Bora closes Series A funding round

SAN FRANCISCO — Aura Bora, a manufacturer of sparkling water flavored with fruits, herbs and flowers, has closed its Series A funding round, raising a total of more than $10 million. The new capital will support efforts to expand retail distribution and brand awareness and strengthen operational capabilities.

Married co-founders Paul and Maddie Borge launched the business three years ago.

“In November 2019, I sold my first can of Aura Bora to a grocery store three blocks from my home,” Voge said. “I spent months delivering cases from Subaru in the Bay Area with handwritten invoices until I partnered with my first distributor. It’s sold in over 100,000 stores and we’re just getting started.”

Aura Bora raised $2 million in seed funding last May. Products are sold at Sprout Farmers Market, Whole Foods Market, Thrive Market and other natural food stores. Flavors include Cactus Rose, Basil Berry, Peppermint Watermelon, Elderflower Grapefruit, Lavender Cucumber, Lemongrass Coconut, Lime Cardamom, Tangerine Blossom, and Blueberry Wildflower. Last year, the brand gained national recognition after appearing on the TV show Shark Tank.

The funding round was led by Siddhi Capital, with participation from Consumer Ventures, Gainels, Seaside Ventures and Simple Food Ventures. Melissa Fakkina, General Partner and Co-Founder of Siddhi Capital, will join Aura Bora’s Board of Directors.

“Paul has trusted Siddhi as a business partner in the fast-paced water market,” Fackina said. “Aura Bora continues to deliver great flavor with his profile and unique customer engagement strategy, and Siddhi Capital is thrilled to be the lead investor in this round.”

Clayton Christopher, founder of Waterloo, Sweet Leaf Tea, Deep Eddy Vodka and CAVU Venture Partners, also invested in the round and will join the board as an independent director.

“Since co-founding Waterloo, I have spent a lot of time in this category and consider myself a sparkling water enthusiast,” said Christopher. “Since I first met Paul in January 2020, I have been very excited about Aura Bora. The brand’s best-in-class speeds are proof that what they do is working. is the best tasting sparkling water I’ve ever had.I’m looking forward to working with the brand and management on their national rollout.”

Additionally, Brad Barnhorn, director of brands such as Country Archer, Flying Embers, Rhythm Superfoods and Biena Snacks, has joined Aura Bora’s board of directors.

“Aura Bora brings a fresh perspective to the sparkling water category, which clearly resonates with consumers,” said Barnhorn. “With the strong foundation built under Paul’s leadership and vision, as well as our current capital and industry expertise, the company is poised to become the next great sparkling water brand. I am thrilled to be working with Paul and Aura Bora to help.”
